Planning Your Custom Glass Project Timeline

Get a schedule for your own glass project before booking other work around it. The opening must be ready for final measurements, and the selections need approval before fabrication. An older lead-time announcement can't confirm your installation date.

Start with the finished opening

Discuss when the shower will be ready for final measurements. Before the final measurement, every surface the glass touches (tile, curb, walls and floor) must be complete: tile set, grouted, caulked and fully cured, with waterproofing done. Changes to tile, the curb, a bench or the door opening can affect the glass layout.

Confirm the selections

Keep a record of the chosen panel arrangement, glass type, hardware finish and door movement. If you are still comparing options, ask which decisions must be final before fabrication begins. A drawing and a written scope make it easier to identify what has been approved.

Ask for your project schedule

Request the expected sequence for measurement, approval and installation. At Wise Glass, your custom glass is typically installed within 7 to 10 days after the final measurement. Ask who will communicate updates and how a design change or material issue would affect the schedule.

Prepare for installation and first use

Ask what access and preparation the installation team will need. Clear movable items from the work area and arrange a safe place for pets. Wait 24 hours before the first shower so the silicone can cure, and do not touch the silicone seals while they cure. Keep the care instructions with the project records.

Before you get started.

Start with the opening

Bring photos and rough dimensions, including curbs, benches and nearby fixtures.

Leave room to move

Compare sliding, swinging and fixed-panel layouts against the available clearance.

Bring finish samples

Photos of your tile and faucets help when comparing glass and hardware.
