A steam shower needs more than a glass door. The enclosure, ceiling and room construction need to work with the steam equipment.
What changes for a steam shower
Work through these details with the contractors handling the room and steam equipment:
- Check how the glass will meet the ceiling or top of the enclosure.
- Confirm which top panels or transoms are fixed and which open.
- Choose hardware suitable for the conditions inside the enclosure.
- Plan the joints and seals where glass meets the finished surfaces.
- Follow the room design and equipment guidance for ventilation.
- Share the steam-system details before finalizing the glass.
Make room to use it comfortably
Think through entering the shower and using the fixtures. Leave enough space for the door and whatever you plan to include inside.

Does Wise Glass install the steam generator?
No. For steam showers, Wise Glass provides the steam-rated glass enclosure only. The steam generator and controls are not part of our work. Your contractor and equipment installer handle those and the room construction; the glass is planned around their work.
How do I get a quote for a steam shower enclosure?
Send photos and rough dimensions for a quote within 24 hours. Larger or more complex projects get an in-person measurement. Include the room layout and the equipment details you have.
When can the steam enclosure be measured?
Before the final measurement, every surface the glass touches (tile, curb, walls and floor) must be complete: tile set, grouted, caulked and fully cured, with waterproofing done. The shower curb must slope inward toward the drain. Ask your tile contractor to confirm this before tile is set.
How long does installation take after measuring?
Your custom glass is typically installed within 7 to 10 days after the final measurement.
Can an existing shower simply be enclosed for steam?
Have the existing room assessed first. Its construction, equipment location and ventilation need checking for steam use before finalizing the enclosure.
