A frameless shower door is thick tempered glass held by hinges and clamps, with no metal frame around it. Your tile stays in view, there is no bottom track to scrub, and the bathroom looks bigger. Fort Worth has every kind of house, from 1920s bungalows to brand-new builds, and each one brings its own questions.
Our showroom is in Haltom City. It sits northeast of downtown Fort Worth, right by the city line. Here are the questions Fort Worth homeowners ask us most, with straight answers.
The short answer
Pick the layout first, then the glass, then the hardware. Get the tile finished before the final measurement. Send photos and rough dimensions for a quote within 24 hours. Larger or more complex projects get an in-person measurement.
Frameless layouts for Fort Worth bathrooms
Single door
One hinged door across the opening. It suits a standard alcove shower and is the simplest frameless glass shower you can get.
Door and fixed panel
A door hung next to a fixed panel. The panel takes up the extra width on a wider opening, so the door does not have to be huge or swing into the vanity.
Corner and neo-angle enclosures
Two or three sides of glass around a corner shower. Each angle and miter adds fabrication cost, so a corner layout is where a custom shower enclosure takes the most planning.
Tub screens and sliding doors
When the tub stays, a fixed glass screen or a frameless sliding door keeps the water in without a framed track.
Steam showers
A steam shower needs glass that runs to the ceiling, usually with a transom panel over the door. For steam showers, Wise Glass provides the steam-rated glass enclosure only. The steam generator and controls are not part of our work.
Older Fort Worth homes: walls that are not square
Houses that have stood for decades, like many in Fairmount and Arlington Heights, often have walls that lean a little and floors that are not quite level. A framed door hides some of that. Frameless glass does not, so the gaps are planned at the final measurement and each panel is cut to the opening you actually have.
If you are remodeling an older bathroom, tell us early. A wall that is out of plumb is much easier to plan around before the tile goes on.
Newer homes: swapping the builder door
If your newer home came with a framed sliding door or a basic pivot door, frameless glass is a common upgrade. The old door, track and frame come out first. Screw holes and caulk lines show once the frame is off, so photograph the jambs and curb, not only the door.
Loose tile, cracked grout or a soft base is a job for your tile contractor before any glass is measured, because glass cannot fix a leak coming from the pan or the waterproofing.
Picking the glass and hardware
- Clear glass shows off your tile and keeps the room bright.
- Low-iron glass is extra clear. It does not have the green tint you can see on the edge of standard glass.
- Frosted glass gives you privacy when the shower faces the bathroom door. Our glass textures guide walks through the options.
- Most frameless panels are 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch thick. Thicker glass feels more solid and weighs more.
Hinges, clamps and handles come in chrome, brushed nickel, matte black and brass, so you can match your faucet. Our guide to choosing shower door hardware goes into the trade-offs.

Hard water and cleaning
Fort Worth tap water leaves mineral spots on glass when it dries, the same as most of North Texas. A quick squeegee after each shower does more than any cleaner. Every new shower installation comes with a bottle of Wise Care glass cleaner, left in your shower by the crew. Our post on hard water stains has more tips.
Permits and your remodel
A glass door swap is a different job from a full bathroom remodel. Fort Worth's residential permitting page separates cosmetic work from other building changes and calls out plumbing work on shower pans. If your project moves plumbing or rebuilds the shower pan, check with the city or your contractor. A glass quote covers the glass work and does not decide whether you need a permit.
What has to be done before we measure
- Before the final measurement, every surface the glass touches (tile, curb, walls and floor) must be complete: tile set, grouted, caulked and fully cured, with waterproofing done.
- The shower curb must slope inward toward the drain. Ask your tile contractor to confirm this before tile is set.
- Mark where the shower head and valve are, so the door can open away from the spray.
What affects the price
Every enclosure is custom priced. The layout matters most: each angle and miter adds fabrication cost. Glass thickness, glass type and hardware finish also affect the price.
That is why we price your actual opening instead of handing you a price list.
Financing is available through Wisetack and Affirm, right from your invoice link, alongside debit, credit, bank transfer, Apple Pay and PayPal.

Fort Worth frameless shower FAQ
Do you install frameless shower doors in all of Fort Worth?
Yes. We serve homes across Fort Worth, a city that reaches into Tarrant, Denton, Johnson, Parker and Wise counties. Send your address with your photos when you ask for a quote.
How long does it take to install?
Your custom glass is typically installed within 7 to 10 days after the final measurement. Wait 24 hours before the first shower so the silicone can cure, and do not touch the silicone seals while they cure.
Is frameless glass safe?
Shower doors are made of tempered safety glass, which breaks into small pieces instead of sharp shards. The International Residential Code, section R308.4, requires safety glass in shower enclosures. More on why frameless shower doors are safe in our guide.
Will a frameless door leak?
A frameless door has small gaps at the hinge side and along the bottom, closed with clear seals and a sweep. With the curb sloped toward the drain and the shower head aimed away from the door, water stays in. Our post on dealing with leaks covers the fixes.
